BattleStar Galactica

The SciFi channel has lately been rerunning episodes of the 70s version of Battlestar Galactica, and having nothing better to do, I've been watching them. Obviously there are a large array of differences, mainly focused around the way the writers and directors approached the series. The old version was written for a viewing public who knew very little about what outer space and science fiction were really about, and as such the series breaks a rule about every other minute. It also is centered around the characters and their interactions/love lives/arguments much more than a modern SciFi viewer would allow.

However I have to hope that the similarities continue as they have. At the beginning of the third season, the new version of Galactica has shown a fantastically fresh and well written take on the older series, becoming SciFi's flagship show, in place of the Stargate series'.

With the release of the first of the new "Webisodes," one can only imagine and hope what the coming seasons will bring, as we draw nearer and nearer to what must be the discovery of Earth in the new series.
