Xbox gets political

Not partisan, mind you, but Microsoft has teamed up with Rock the Vote to provide voter registration services on the Xbox, as well as surveys and debate groups.

Cool.

While it won't flip the apathy of my generation around and make kids come out to vote in droves, it is a step in the right direction. The political process needs this type of incursion, making everything slightly more accessible and appealing to folks of all age groups. The arcane system is slowly being disassembled, and hopefully in the moderately near future, registration and voting will be as easy as ordering a package on Amazon.

My only misgiving is that I know how aggravating the Xbox can be if one does not have a keyboard hooked up to it, so I'm not sure how much traffic this new feature will get.

Comments:

This is a good idea. I really like the Xbox is getting involved in the political process and giving gamers a chance to share their opinions and views on our country today.

My fear is that this will turn into typical Xbox live conversations.
