More info.

Alright, time to expound upon my new workplace.

It is great. The dress code is extremely lax, (ex. my co-worker in a sweat-suit across the hall from me.) There's free milk and free tea, The cafeteria is quite nice and reasonable, and the pay ain't half bad either.

Right now I'm doing site maintainence which is comprised of minor updates and fixes to the web sites that FindLaw (my department) builds. Hopefully today or sometime this week I'll start getting trained in on Design Support, which is where the actual magic takes place, and is what I'd probably be best at.

There's a butt-ton to learn yet, but at least I don't feel like I'm drowning anymore.

This job is crazy.

In a good, lots of information type of way.

My brain is full like a baby's diaper after pea soup.

Endings

Today is my last day at Entech here in Milwaukee. Right on the UWM campus, this job has been really really great. Very low-key, and almost no-stress.

I leave my cushy position for something that I can only assume is hectic and fast paced. If t'were only so easy to make a living wage on a cushy student job. Alas, our times are not thus; my lifestyle choices require systems-based health-care and large sums of money.

I start at Thomson FindLaw on Monday. They sent my my orientation information, with everything planned out for that first day, all the way until 1:30pm. I'm excited, but nervous as hell as well. I don't know if this place is going to be fun or smothering.

I guess I'll find out.

By the way, I gave up on the Friday top five deal. I have decided to make it a monthly thing, so that I put the requisite effort into it.

Jail Paris Hilton

I dislike celebrities, for the most part. There are a few notable exceptions in people that do their best to stay out of the limelight.

Paris Hilton is about as bad as you can get. Her and her entire entourage are the definition of "spoiled-rotten." She was recently sentenced to 45 days in jail for a DWI in California, and is trying to appeal to Arnold Schwarzenegger to let her off. Other folks think that perhaps she should not get off so easily.

  • the "Free Paris" petition has 27,838 signatures.
  • the "Jail Paris" petition has 76,882 signatures.

I find this comical in the highest degree.

L-O-L.

Jane Fonda ON Colbert.

Literally.

This has to be some of the best Colbert that I've seen. It's not often that he gets flustered, but you can see it plainly in this show. Hilarity.

Friday Top 5: Reasons to move back to MN

This one is a quickie, since I'm bogged down with packing duties.

5) Tower

That house rocks hardcore. It has character coming out of its ears. And a yard the size of Rhode Island.

4) Concealed Carry

I may or may not want a gun. If and when I do, I like the option of being able to have it with me at times.

3) The Gateway Trail

The closest thing that Milwaukee has is a piddly 5-mile thing out to the suburbs.

2) 5-digit salary

Having a job waiting for you sweetens any deal.

1) Folk

You know who you are.

Time

It's always fleeting, except when you are paying attention to it. If ever there were a point at which I could prove to myself that time is a complete illusion, these past two weeks would be it. I feel like I've been trudging through each day as if through a bog. I try to do as much as I can, but there still seems to be many hours leftover in the day. Evidently video games, biking, reading, internetting, working, and staring at Vicki aren't enough to fill the days. This is an odd dilemma, one that I'm sure many people would be glad to have.

I think I'm gonna have to start drinking myself unconscious.

These eight days feel like they'll be an eternity.
